The setting is picturesque and peaceful. The buildings were designed to look like homes, featuring lots of flowers and charming touches.
With brick walkways and a backdrop of the York River, Riverwalk Landing is a great place to walk around to enjoy both shopping and nature.
Riverwalk Landing is located directly adjacent to the Yorktown Beach. There are public restrooms for your use and lots of open space, which makes it a convenient place to have the whole family.
This makes it a great place to spend the morning or afternoon. You can pick up food to eat at the beach area, or enjoy shopping for a bit before you hit the sand.
The Yorktown Beach and Riverwalk Landing don’t have to be enjoyed together though.
If you’re just looking for a place for a nice dinner, Riverwalk Landing is a great option.
How Long is the Yorktown Riverwalk?
Riverwalk Landing isn’t huge, and this adds to the quaint feeling. If you’re not eating, you can plan to spend about an hour or less there.
But, if you’re up for trying out some of the local eats and relaxing at the Yorktown Beach some, you can easily spend 2-3 hours at the Riverwalk Landing.
Despite this, there are tons of great spots for picture taking, and the atmosphere is casual and friendly.
While there aren’t tons of restaurants or shops at Riverside Landing, you’re sure to find something yummy to eat and a souvenir to remember your trip by.

Riverside Landing in Yorktown is home to several shopping places.
Alexander’s Photography
Alexander’s Photography offers beautiful photography.
You can buy prints from Patriot Tours and Provisions, the Waterman’s Museum or the Gallery at York Hall.
If you’re looking to get your picture taken while in Yorktown, be sure to call Alexander’s before you go to see what options are available.
Gangsta Dog
Gangsta Dog is a shop for all the dog.
It has gourmet dog biscuits, dog cookies, dog donuts, meat products for dogs and more. Additionally, you can purchase collars, leashes, bandanas, toys and treats for your dog.
If you are a dog person, this store at Riverwalk Landing is for you.
Patriot Tours & Provisions, LLC
Patriot Tours and Provisions is a friendly shop that offers both tour options for Yorktown and shopping.
If you’re looking for a guided tour through Historic Yorktown, you can schedule a Segway tour at Patriot Tours and Provisions.
Or, if you prefer to venture out on your own, there are bikes to rent.
In addition to offering tours, Patriot Tours and Provisions has a nice little shop where you can get snacks, sand toys, beach-inspired jewelry (like mood rings and shell necklaces), and other things.

Featuring both American artists Yorktown and beyond, Auntie M’s is a great place to pick up a unique piece of art to display in your home.

If you’re looking for a special piece, you should stop by and chat the J. Henry Viccellio III. He is a master goldsmith and a precious metal craftsman.
Yorktown Bookshop
The Yorktown Bookshop at the Riverwalk Landing is a used book store with a lot of character.
You can find all types of books at good prices there.
The place has a warm, slightly eccentric feel to it, as highlighted by the almost lifesized stuffed bear that greets you as you enter.
In addition, the last time I was there, a shop employee was dressed as Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
Altogether, it makes for a delightful experience that feels casual and homey.
As a note, older children will probably do well at the Yorktown Bookshop, but I found that I was a bit nervous with my two year old in there. There isn’t a lot of room to navigate, so you may want to keep littles and strollers outside.
Dining at Riverside Landing in Yorktown, VA
Riverside Landing in Yorktown is home to several dining places.
Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream / Green Mountain Coffee Cafe
This is a location that both adults and children love.
Featuring both ice cream and coffee, Ben and Jerry’s and the Green Mountain Coffee Cafe combine in the same shop.
When you walk in, you’re at the entrance to the line, where you can order whichever treat you want.
Ben and Jerry’s has all the regular offerings, including waffle cones and waffle bowls.
The Green Mountain Coffee Cafe features espresso, cappuccino, café latte, café mocha, and specialty coffee drinks.
There is a little place to sit inside, or you can take your treats outside and walk around.
I will note, the ice cream is pretty pricey. Running about $8 for a single scoop, you may want to be sure you’re comfortable with the price before taking a bunch of children in!
Carrot Tree
Carrot Tree is a great spot at Riverside Landing for breakfast, lunch or a little pick me up.
The cafe offers wraps, salads, soup, biscuits and dessert items. There are a few spots to sit inside, or you can eat right outside the shop in their outdoor seating area.
Additionally, Carrot Tree has pre-packaged food you can grab and take down to Yorktown Beach for a quick lunch.
While it is closed on Mondays, Carrot Tree is open from 10-4 every other day of the week.
Riverwalk Restaurant
Riverwalk Restaurant is a great spot for a sit down meal.
With both indoor and patio seating, Riverwalk allows you to watch the water while eating your food, making the whole experience delightful.
Riverwalk shares a menu with Water Street Grille, which is located right next door.
The menu offers seafood, steaks, pork chops, salads, tapas and more.
Water Street Grille
Water Street Grille is another great sit down restaurant at Riverwalk Landing.
Water Street Grill has a casual atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating.
Both the food and the service are great.
Like Riverwalk, the menu offers seafood, steaks, pork chops, salads, tapas and more. It is a great blend of “fancy” options, like Salmon Alla Puttanesca, and more traditional options such as, Baja Fish Tacos.
Personally, I can vouch that both the crab dip and the Mac n’ cheese egg rolls are great options for appetizers.
Umi Sushi
Umi Sushi is a locally-owned Japanese restaurant.
It offers sushi, sake, teas and more.
While there is limited seating inside, you can order your meal to go if you like.
Other Dining Options Near Riverwalk Landing
In addition to the eateries mentioned above, you’ll also find the Yorktown Pub and Larry’s down by the Yorktown Beach.
These places are a part of Riverwalk Landing, but they’re just a stones through away, so I thought I’d mention them.
While Larry’s appears to be a pretty typical bar, Yorktown Pub offers indoor seating and great looking menu.

Having been there during both the peak season and the off-season, it never feels too terribly crowded.
